Norman Rockwell Ornament Collection GRAMPS AT THE REINS 1987 Christmas Club

Norman Rockwell Ornament Collection GRAMPS AT THE REINS VINTAGE 1987 The Christmas Ornament Collectors Club. EXCELLENT CONDITION and SAME DAY SHIPPING Gramps at the Reins The Saturday Evening Post December 16, 1933 The first two subjects that Norman Rockwell learned to illustrate were boys and old men. They remained his favorite subjects, offering poignant counterpoint throughout his works. Gramps at the Reins is one of his most noted examples of this theme. The special relationship between grand- father and young grandson is captured by Rockwell as only a sensitive observer of life and a gifted artist could convey. The lack of inhibition and obvious unabashed joy of Rockwell's senior citizen, who has seized the opportunity to share in play with his grandson on the youngster's new rocking horse, touches on a remembrance and sense of understanding in all of us. The boy, dressed head to toe in a cowboy suit, holds on for dear life. In contrast, an expression of childish glee adorns the old man's face as he gallops playfully along like a rodeo star. The fine detail in this beautifully crafted three-dimensional ornament brings to life the characters Rockwell created in Gramps at the Reins. The gaily colored Heirloom Christmas Ornament will be a unique addition that will be enjoyed throughout the holiday season.
